Security as a design constraint
Security is treated as a design constraint at the specification stage, not as a final-phase audit. Threat models, secure defaults, input validation, and least-privilege access are part of the initial architecture.

Founded in Sanem, Luxembourg, by Lionel Bergeret, after two decades of engineering experience at Sony, PacketVideo, Safecast, and Trainspot KK in Tokyo.
// who
Internet Village s.à r.l.s. is an independent software company based in Sanem, Luxembourg, founded in September 2020 by Lionel Bergeret (M.Sc. Computer Science, Université de Namur).
The company builds on twenty years of prior engineering work in Tokyo and Brussels: embedded media at Sony, software security at PacketVideo, radiation sensors and the global mapping platform at Safecast (Good Design Awards 2013 and 2014), and event-technology infrastructure at Trainspot KK, where Lionel continues as CTO.
We design and build embedded systems, backend services, mobile applications, and the integration layers that connect them. Engagements typically cover everything from initial specification to production deployment and long-term maintenance.
Clients are typically based in Luxembourg, Belgium, or Japan, with remote engagements elsewhere in Europe. Working languages: English, French; conversational Japanese (JLPT N3).
// values
Security is treated as a design constraint at the specification stage, not as a final-phase audit. Threat models, secure defaults, input validation, and least-privilege access are part of the initial architecture.
Systems are built to run in production for years. That implies realistic estimates, readable code, automated tests, structured logging, and runtime metrics.
Twenty years of engineering in consumer electronics, embedded media, and event technology. We choose long-term maintainability over short-term speed.
// timeline
Senior software engineer. Real-time video streaming over HTTP / SSL-TLS / RTP / RTSP. MPEG-2 decompression and MPEG-4 / AAC analysers on Nucleus, VxWorks, and embedded Linux.
Senior software engineer. VOD streaming frameworks for consumer-electronics devices on VxWorks and Linux, inter-processor communication, ARM boot-time optimisation, UPnP / DLNA.
Software security engineer. iOS and Android software security: LLVM-based obfuscation and reverse-engineering hardening. HEVC playback on iOS.
Embedded software architect. Designed radiation sensors and the global mapping platform at Safecast: bGeigie Nano hardware, real-time data collection over GPS / I2C / SPI, and interpolation + mapping tools in Python (matplotlib, griddata). Good Design Awards 2013 (sensor) and 2014 (mapping solution).
Event-technology platform: cloud backends supporting >100k users per event, NFC-based payments and access control on Raspberry Pi and Famoco rugged outdoor Android handhelds (custom Android client with LLVM-style obfuscation, NXP MIFARE UltraLight C wristbands), NVIDIA Jetson computer-vision pipelines, BLE beacon networks for participant tracking, and the cross-platform mobile apps used to operate them.
Founded in September 2020 by Lionel Bergeret. Independent software company serving clients in Luxembourg, Belgium, and Japan across embedded systems, software security, mobile, web, and IoT.
